He played in the Fanfare National as a young man but turned his interest from music to painting and began showing his works in the galleries of Port-au-Prince.

Gregoire is considered one of the best of the first generation naive artists. His paintings were recently shown in New York at the Jonathan Demme exhibit at the Equitable Gallery.
