PRAYERS IN SOUVENANS,HAITI
by PHOTOGRAHER CHANTAL REGNAULT

SOUVENANS - A spiritual center near Gonaives, holds yearly celebrations during Easter time.

VODOU - It is a moment in Souvenans' time of remembering the spirits and calling them through a collective prayer. My favorite one, Easter Monday under the old mapou (cotton silk tree) where most of those pictures were taken. A glimpse at the peaceful, meditative aspect of Vodou so often overlooked.

HAITI - A source of inspiration since the late 70's, Haiti has grabbed my eyes and mind in many different ways. But from start, going to Vodou gatherings was not only a great photo opportunity, but an open door to people's faith and way of life. From the mountains to the cities vodou has permeated the imaginary and contemporary young Haitian artists are drawing on it in fresh and creative ways.

EDUCATION - A graduate from N.Y.U and the Haitian School of Life. Studying for P.H.D

EXPERIENCE - Never enough

FUTURE GOAL - Pray for the World
