Faublas, Paskal 1961- Paskal was born in Port au Prince in 1961. She lives and works in Jacmel. Paskal is a self-taught artist/artisan. She has been exhibiting her work collectively and individually both in Haiti and abroad. Paskal Faublas has broken down the barriers between art and craft. The tendency is to separate these two 2 concepts, but in her work they are closely linked. The wooden doors and shutters that she recovers restores or simply let's subsist, often find themselves the basic support of her art work. By adding drawings and paintings, she assembles all of it in collages with the dexterity of an artisan. The duality in her work can also be felt in her choices of medium whether it's the discovery of a rough piece of salvage material or a delicate creation of nature. Her inspirations are deeply rooted in the Haitian culture.
