Cavin-Morris Gallery has been showing the work of self-taught artists for 17 years. We have worked consistently to exhibit artists whose clarity of vision and aesthetic strengths have brought them to the fore critically in both the contemporary and self-taught arena. Among these artists are Jon Serl, Bessie Harvey and Anna Zemnkov and Justin McCarthy.
We continue to explore the art of the Caribbean, particularly work from Jamaica and Haiti. We also represent younger artists whose artistic vision is current with the changing times, including Chris Hipkiss, Gregory Van Maanen, Kevin Sampson, and Keith Goodhart. The common thread that connects all the art is its uniqueness, its honesty and its power. The contemporary artists we represent extend the continuum established by the self-taught artists into a more formal but equally compelling arena. We have expanded our second gallery to include the fine ethnographic art and antiquities from Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
