Agenor, Jocelyn
1954-
Jocelyn Agenor was born in 1954 in Cap Haitian. In the 1940's the famous artist Philome Obin and his brother Seneque, founded The School of the Cap. It was here that Agenor painted with Obin's grandchildren. In 1977 Agenor moved to Port-au-Prince where he quickly found his own style. He specialized in animals in the jungle. His favorite themes are the Garden of Eden, Noah's Ark and scenes of the Haitian countryside.
One of Agenor's paintings graced the cover of the invitation of a major exhibit that opened in Bukowskis Gallery in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1985, he was once again, one of the Haitian artists selected to represent the best in the Caribbean at another opening in the Bukowski Gallery.
In 1981 one of his paintings was auctioned at the famed Sothebys Parke Bennet Auction House in New York. In 1985 one of his works was chosen for the exhibition in the Café de la Paix in Paris, France.
