Armand, Gesner
1936-
Gesner Armand known for his paintings of peasant life, carnivals, and pigeons in vibrant colors, Armand is stimulated and influenced by the Caribbean sun, which shines in all his canvases.
Gesner Armand was born in Croix-des-Bouquets. Armand was a young man when he joined the Centre d'Art. It was here that Pierre Monosiet introduced him to watercolors. He was in Mexico from 1958 to 1960. In 1960 he was awarded a scholarship from the French government and lived in Paris until 1962. He returned to Haiti that year, and settled in Croix-des-Bouquets. He is currently director of the Museum of Haitian Art at St. Pierre's College.
