Valcin is considered to be one of the most significant of Haiti´s painters.

Valcin, Gerard
1923

Gerard Valcin was born in Port-au-Prince in 1923. He was a tile-setter before becoming a painter. Undoubtedly influenced by his early training, Valcin's compositions are masterful studies of tightly ordered geometric patterns and symmetry.

Valcin is considered to be one of the most significant of Haiti's painters. He has participated in numerous group shows all over the world. Several of his paintings have been sold at Sotheby's Art auctions in New York.
