Semerand, Galland 1953- Galland Semerand was born on October 9th in Cap-Haitian but grew up in Port-au-Prince Therefore, he does not belong to what is known as the school of the Cap and is very proud of his own originality. Because of his studies in architecture, he was drawn to historical monuments, gingerbread houses and beautifully landscaped market scenes, which are his favorite subjects for his paintings. He has been shown in Paris, the US and in 1984 won 1st prize at the contest of the museum of Haitian Art in Port-au-Prince. Expositions Collectives 1982 - USA , Eye Care , Washington DC et New York 1983 - Haiti , Galerie Monnin , Pétionville 1984 - 1st prize at the contest of the museum of Haitian Art in Port-au-Prince to commemorate the visit of Pope John. Paul II in Haiti. |
