Semerand, Galland
1953-
Galland Semerand was born on October 9th in Cap-Haitian but grew up in Port-au-Prince Therefore, he does not belong to what is known as the school of the Cap and is very proud of his own originality. Because of his studies in architecture, he was drawn to historical monuments, gingerbread houses and beautifully landscaped market scenes, which are his favorite subjects for his paintings.
He has been shown in Paris, the US and in 1984 won 1st prize at the contest of the museum of Haitian Art in Port-au-Prince.
