Chéry Mistira was born in Petit Trou de Nippes on April 26 1926 where he completed some of his elementary education. He lives in Port-au-Prince since 1970 and has been employed by the Centre d'Art since 1971. He began his painting career in 1973 and has participated in many group shows ever since.
