Rameau, Cameau
1943
Cameau Rameau, was born in Port-au-Prince, he was educated at the College Jean-Marie Robert in Port-au-Prince. In 1973, Rameau began to study under Calixte Henri. Unlike many of the Haitian masters, Henri never attempted to impose his own style on his students. His manner of instruction is to provide only essential guidelines while encouraging the young artist to develop his personal vision.
Rameau's vision is unique indeed. His subject matter contains country roads, seashores, seascapes, often populated with figures bustling about and always decorated with geometrical white dots. It almost appears as if a small tidy snowfall were occurring, but it is merely Rameau's personal cachet.
