The Electric Gallery - The Haitian Art Wing http://www.egallery.com/haiti.html [email protected] Despite the hardships and political trauma suffered by this country, Haiti remains a wellspring of creativity and imagination. Take a moment to read about the origins of Haitian art before you go on to view the paintings in the Haitian Art Wing. Haitian Voodoo Flags are a powerful art form created exclusively for the vodou ritual. We have been adding to this wing as we can, but these are authentic flags and we are not able to keep the voodoo flag collection well represented at all times. As of November 18, 1998 we are adding a dozen new pieces to this collection, and we expect to have a dozen or so more shortly. Please be patient if you do not see anything new for a while. Select the image at the left to take a walking tour through the Haitian Art Wing, or the one on the right to go to the Voodoo Flags pages. You can take a shortcut to see all the artists in the gallery, or you can browse this wing by selecting from the list of Haitian painters to go directly to their works. You may also want to visit our new Under $200 section for a large selection of original paintings, nicely framed, at very reasonable prices. Many of the painters exhibiting here hang in prestigious galleries and museums. A short bibliography is attached for those who would like to delve into the history and mysteries of Haitian art and voudou. These books also contain some stunning illustrations of the works of Haitian artists, many of whom are on exhibition here in the Electric Gallery.
